Chef, Mother, Lunch Lady & The Neighbor You've Always Wanted
Devivo_Pizza-23.jpg

Jenny DeVivo is on a mission to eliminate the “mall mentality” of mealtime in school cafeterias and family kitchens. She believes kids deserve better than the traditional cafeteria options.

As the Executive Chef and Food Service Director at the West Tisbury School on Martha’s Vineyard, Jenny developed a school meals program that became a statewide and national model. She focuses on feeding children tasty, healthy meals while also sharing the story of how their food gets to the table. That two-pronged approach fosters a sense of community while teaching students to feel accountable and become stewards of our world.

Now Jenny is moving beyond her island home and bringing a school lunch revolution to the rest of the country. She’s coaching schools on how to make meaningful changes with something as simple as a basic gleaning program, and helping families bring togetherness — and proper nutrition — back to the dinner table.

Watch for Jenny on a TV, computer screen, or stage near you. You’ll find that she’s a mélange of a loving mom, resourceful lunch lady, and creative chef. In other words — the neighbor you always wanted.
